Funny error message

Ok it has been quite a long time since I posted anything at all..
Though I did write a few drafts and deleted them, thought I'd rather live in the present and not be sadistic to the reader, talking about things long lost!

Anyway, enough of crap...
Let me get to the funny parts!
Most of you know I dont really love my manager, rarely..
So its not really difficult to imagine my feelings when he's seen around my desk more often than not.
I was writing an interesting piece of code and was in my elements and so...
I ended up doing (not really unintentionally this time though) what I always used to do when I was in college.
Report errors to the user of my software in a rather not so polite manner.
Actually there was a place in the software where the user was supposed to enter a file name to retrieve some info from that file.
And an error message was to be displayed when he entered an invalid file name.

Now tell me how glad you would be to use software which gives you an error message saying,

“Incorrect file name! Why don’t you read the user’s guide properly? If you can’t do that you don’t deserve to use this software. Go to hell!”
This just popped up when my Manager was reviewing the code and testing it!

My team mate fell out of her chair laughing…
If only I had foreseen this happening....
There'd have been a lot more in that error message for sure!

Here's the secret!

Ok, it seems it is high time to unveil the secrets about the replies I got from the lady I mentioned in my previous post!
Well, she never called to put it bluntly.
However in one of my mails I did happen to ask her
"What do you do Nicky (name changed)?"
Well I am sure you will agree that this is one of the most normal things to ask when you meet a new person.
And the reply that I got from her was, ok I will put it in her words,
"Hi Kaushik,
To be very frank to you..... I am an escort.
I found your pictures and you very interesting.
You can call me anytime you wish."

Disclaimer:
Some part of the text posted above has been edited to suit public viewing whilst some part of it might still be unsuitable for some of the audience. (Specially, if its my Mom!)

It did take me quite some time to gather myself and decide what to reply back to the lady (with all due respect). And finally I came up with a very diplomatic reply clearly stating,
"Hi Nicky,
Well, I will then say I am not really interested in your profession, though I am
interested in your interest in photography.
Do post some pictures.
I tried calling you but could not get to your number. (this was a plain lie)
Take Care,
Kaushik "

And thereafter I got no replies. :)
I dont know if it was a prank from a friend who wasn't very sure about my character or it was real. But I think I handled it well enough.
What do you say?

Update on the ladies front!

It was a normal day at work today, after all the ruckus created by the anticipated or rather imaginary riots yesterday.
And of course there were the people with the divine visions who could see riots happening in places where there was peace and harmony.
It is the people with those divine visions who can foresee disasters are the ones responsible for the panic generated. I hate them.
They'd pretend they're passing useful information but will never bother to check the authenticity of the information. I simply hate them.

Anyway, forget the hatred...the good news is that...an American photographer is here in Bangalore and she (22) liked my work on Amvona and sent me a mail saying "she wished to know more about me and perhaps meet me."
I replied to her mail immediately, taking all precaution that I sound very diplomatic and professional apart from sounding very interested in meeting her and have been waiting for a reply ever since. Damn when will she check her mail...

I hope the "wait" turns out to be fruitful!

And the good news is that my Manager will be on leave for the next three days!!!!
And that means three days of independence... for three days I can work the way I like to work!
No need to improvise and adjust...No useless questions to answer!
No mindless wastage of efforts... Ok that may be an overstatement, its not always a waste!

ha ha ha...but its time to enjoy...and wait for the mail's reply!
